Flash Dance – Volker Bachschneider
Virtual Exhibition
The kermis is deeply rooted in tradition, originating from the annual parish fair or church consecration celebrations. Thus it was one of the great social and cultural highlights of the year. In this year these events are absent.
On display are nocturnal scenes from a 2016 kermis on the periphery of the Zgorzelec Jakuby Festival, the parallel event to the Görlitz Old Town Festival.

Volker Bachschneider, born in 1962. My interest in the medium of photography began in 1992 when, after completing my studies in Protestant theology, I took over the management of the Protestant Media Centre in Görlitz. Later on I was taking pictures of events for the church press and for documentation purposes.
The rise of digital photography gave me new impetus, also with regard to my private photographic work. I am part of the organising team since the first Görlitz Photo Festival.
