#2 „STRUCTURES OF THE CITY“

A VIRTUAL EXHIBITION WITH WORKS BY TOMASZ SOBCZAK
ARTISTIC ARRANGEMENT & VIRTUAL CURATING: AGNIESZKA LEMMER

As part of the Görlitz photo festival “Schauplätze” the exhibition will be shown from 07.11. to 28.11.20 in the virtual exhibition format “VR IN FRAMES”.

The exhibition will be continuously developed as an “Artist in Residence” project during its duration: New functions and optimised forms of presentation will be presented as soon as they become available :-) .

Hint: For best viewing we recommend modern versions of the browsers “Firefox” or “Chrome”. Currently the exhibition can be visited with desktop browsers, mobile devices are not yet supported. Loading / starting takes some time, depending on the internet connection … please wait :-) . We recommend the full screen mode for a realistic exhibition experience.

  • The exhibition can be controlled by mouse and arrow keys:
    • mouse: rotate / turn + up / down

Structures of the city

The author removes the colour(s) of the world under consideration and replaces them with his own.

Like in the works of Mondrian and Miro, the unreal structure seems to remain the same, but now radiates a feeling of lightness: it is fascinating to add a mysterious expression to “grey everyday life”. By doing so, some things even become fairy-tale like, others perhaps better.

Born 1977 in Bolesławiec. Graduate of Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, residencies at the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Academy in Cracow and the Pedagogical Academy in Cracow. Studies of photography at the Maria Curie University Skłodowska in Lublin with distinction. For many years Sobczak has been connected with the city of Tarnów, where he is president of the tradition-rich photographers’ association TTF since 2008.

In 2013 he was awarded the EFIAP title [Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP)] of Master Photographer. Since 2018, Sobczak has been a full member of the Polish National Photographic Club RP and a board member since 2019. Multiple winner of art fellowships, worldwide awards.
